Print On Demand
Print On Demand (POD) is the latest module for DPS. POD assigns pallets and prints work for the pickers on-the-fly. All work is distributed through print stations (kiosks) located on the warehouse floor, as shown below. Pickers drive up to the kiosk and swipe a magnetic card to request work and the station prints the next set of tickets to be picked. When done picking the worker swipes again to mark his current pallets complete and get additional tickets. Using the touch screen the pickers can also reprint tickets or mark requested items as out-of-stock. The system can be configured to print out one ticket or several each time the picker requests work. The warehouse manager can dynamically re-assign pickers to a different truck, and can assign multiple pickers to a single truck.
